This week's spelling list, practiced until it sticks.
Time for Spelling starts with the list your child's teacher actually sent home. Paste it in, and your child practices each word by hearing it spoken, hearing it in a sentence, and typing it. Tests retry only the words they miss, and missed words come back in later sessions until they stick. It works from first word families in kindergarten to ACT and SAT vocabulary in high school and college. Sessions run 10 to 15 minutes. And right now, it is free.
Early access is open. Time for Spelling is free while we build it with families. No card. No catch.
Why spelling and vocabulary
Most kids do not resist spelling because it is hard. They resist it because it is boring: a list on Monday, a test on Friday, forgotten by the next week.
Spelling and vocabulary carry more weight than that list suggests. A child who can spell confidently writes more, and writes better. A child with a deep vocabulary reads harder books sooner, follows lessons faster, and walks into the ACT and SAT already knowing the words everyone else is cramming.
Time for Spelling builds both, one list at a time. Words come back across sessions until they stick, difficulty rises as your child improves, and the vocabulary is real: the words they will meet in books, in class, and on tests.
Built for every grade band
Practice starts from this week's school list, or from the built-in word bank organized by grade band. You pick the starting level for each child and can change it any time.
Early Elementary
Short vowels, word families, blends, and digraphs. Your child learns to hear a word, break it into sounds, and build it back letter by letter.
See the skills → 3rd – 5th gradeElementary
Silent letters, common spelling patterns, prefixes and suffixes, and homophones. Vocabulary grows from everyday words to the words in chapter books and science lessons.
See the skills → 6th – 8th gradeMiddle School
Greek and Latin roots, tricky patterns, and academic vocabulary: the words textbooks assume your child already knows. Spelling gets harder and more precise.
See the skills → 9th – 12th gradeHigh School
Advanced vocabulary and the spelling patterns that trip up strong students. Words pulled from literature, history, and science, taught in context, not in isolation.

Older students paste ACT and SAT vocabulary lists and drill them the same way as a weekly list: hear the word, read the definition, type it, and retest only the misses until the words are automatic.

You add this week's list
Create your family account, add up to five child profiles, and paste this week's spelling list. It takes under two minutes. Words already in our bank arrive with definitions and example sentences attached, and you can add your own for the rest.
Your child practices
Practice is a listen-and-type drill: your child hears the word spoken, hears it used in a sentence, and can check its meaning, then types it. When they are ready, a test retries only the words they missed. Sessions run 10 to 15 minutes and end at a natural stopping point.
You see the progress
Your parent dashboard shows accuracy, the exact misspellings your child made, words mastered, and what is due for review. You can print a report or a practice worksheet any time. No guessing about whether it is working.
From first words to test day
One family account covers kindergarten through college prep. The built-in bank holds more than 800 words with definitions and example sentences, organized by grade band so the difficulty always fits, and spaced review brings words back until they are mastered.
Older students heading for the ACT or SAT paste test vocabulary lists and work them with the same practice, test, and review cycle as a weekly school list, so test prep builds on the habit they already have.
You stay in charge
You are in control, and it takes almost none of your time. Paste the list once, adjust levels whenever you like, and check progress when it suits you: words mastered, accuracy trend, exact misspellings, and time practiced, all in one view.
Sessions are built for real family schedules. Practice takes 10 to 15 minutes and stops cleanly, so it fits before dinner, in the car, or as a school subject in your homeschool day. There is nothing to grade, and the dashboard shows every misspelling, so you never have to read a list out loud on test day.
