Yes, when the practice is the learning. In Time for Spelling, your child hears each word, reads its meaning, and types it, and a word is not finished until it is spelled correctly. Tests retry only the words they miss, and words repeat across sessions until they are mastered, which is the same spaced practice teachers use, in a format your child can run on their own.
Practice sessions run 10 to 15 minutes and end at a natural stopping point. Most families do one or two sessions a day. Your dashboard shows exact minutes practiced, so you always know.
Kindergarten through college. The built-in word bank starts with K–2 skills like word families and blends and climbs through elementary, middle, and high school bands. Older students can paste ACT and SAT vocabulary lists and drill them the same way. At any age, you can skip the bank and paste this week's school list instead.
Both. Spelling and vocabulary advance together: your child learns what a word means and how to use it in a sentence, not only how to spell it. Higher levels lean into Greek and Latin roots, so one lesson unlocks whole families of words.
Older students paste high-value ACT and SAT vocabulary lists into their profile and drill them with the same routine they use for weekly school lists: hear the word, read the definition and a sentence, type it, and retest only the words missed until the spellings are automatic.
Any device with a web browser: phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and computers. Nothing to download or install. Progress saves to the parent account and follows your child across devices.
Nothing right now. Time for Spelling is free during early access, and no card is required to join. If pricing is introduced later, it will be announced before any charge, and nothing will ever be charged without you choosing a plan.
As little as the app needs. Children play under a parent's account and never register with personal information of their own. We store practice progress: words attempted, words mastered, accuracy, and time practiced, so your child can pick up where they left off and you can see their progress. That is the point of the product, and we keep the data collection matched to it. See the privacy summary for the plain-language version.
Yes. Homeschool families are who we built it for. It works as a complete spelling and vocabulary strand: paste the week's list, let your child run their practice sessions, and check the dashboard instead of grading a workbook. The scope and sequence is published on the Learn page so you can see exactly what it covers.
Yes. You set the level, and you can set spelling and vocabulary levels independently per child. The app's difficulty adjusts within the level you choose, and you can change either level at any time.
Words are served at your child's level and adjust based on performance: words they miss come back more often, and difficulty steps up as accuracy improves. Your manual setting always wins. If you set the level, that is the level they play.
